What is Personal Data Removal?

Personal Data Removal is a feature that scans data broker sites for your personal data and sends requests to remove that data from each site.Papaya Privacy scans and removes your personal data from data broker sites, monitors your data for dark web breaches, and provides $1M identity theft insurance and restoration services in the case you are a victim of identity theft.

We scan and request to remove your:  name, address, email address, phone number, occupation, education history, government records, and relatives’ names.

Why should I use Personal Data Removal?

Why are you showing me a record that “isn’t me” or has partially incorrect information?

Data brokers obtain your personal data multiple ways, such as purchasing it from other data brokers, scraping other websites, etc. They then attempt to combine records for the same person into a single record on their site. Sometimes they combine records that are actually different people by mistake and create inaccuracies in their own data. Some of that is exposed before the paywall, some is sold after the paywall. The records we return are the records the site is actively promoting when someone searches for you. We will cast a wider net to ensure we are catching all records the site may have about you.

Why does a record say removed when I can still find it on the broker site?

There are many reasons this may happen.

Broker sites often have multiple records for the same person and can republish records once they’ve been removed. It's also possible that the record found is a new or different record from the one removed. We typically catch these records on your next scan and submit them for removal.

It’s also possible that the scan was unable to find the data because of a change in the way the monitored site stores or presents its data, for example, showing different results for the same search. The good news is that we continually monitor and rescan broker sites for your records to make sure they stay removed.

When will I start seeing results?

Personal Data Removal and Identity Monitoring are constantly at work. For Personal Data Removal, once your scan is completed it may take a few weeks for all data removal requests to be fulfilled. This is because each data broker site we request for your data removal has their own process for processing those requests.

Can Papaya Privacy guarantee all of my personal data will be scanned and removed?

Data broker sites are companies that collect and sell your personal data. They are also known as people search sites and people databases. Anybody can buy your personal data, including fraudsters and telemarketers. Our Personal Data Removal feature scans and requests to remove your personal data from these sites to protect you from identity theft and financial fraud.

What is Identity Monitoring?

Identity Monitoring is a feature that monitors the dark web for breaches of your data. When a breach is detected, we alert you in real-time about where the breach happened and which data of yours has been breached.

Additionally, you can choose to monitor your social security number (SSN) or ITIN, allowing you to know whenever these are used to open bank accounts, open lines of credit, search employment and healthcare records, make tax filings, and search online documents signings and payment platforms.

You can also choose to monitor your address for changes of address requests. If there’s been an official change of address logged with the National Change of Address (NCOA) database you will be alerted. Fraudsters may try to change your address to impersonate you more easily.

Why should I use Identity Monitoring?
